Phillies Pitcher Andrew Bailey and the Phillie Phanatic paid a special visit a local children’s hospital last week as part of the Phillies’ Summer Week of Giving. Bailey and the Phanatic spent the morning with children being treated at the hospital, talking with them and playing games like Pin the Baseball on the Bat.
Bailey said it was important to put a smile on the children’s faces while they were going through a rough time.
Robin Capecci, Pediatric Oncology Social Worker, said the visit was a way for the kids who can’t go to games to spend time with members of the team, and to remember that people in the community are thinking about them.
The Phillies Summer Week of Giving took place July 18-22 and featured events to spread summer fun and give back to the community.
